Tips for Healthy Hair Without Spending Too Much Time or Money

Tips and advice for healthy locks

Having a beautiful and healthy hair is not so difficult to achieve. Your hair, like everything else, needs your attention and consistent daily care to look gorgeous.

If you implement some of the tips and tricks listed bellow in your everyday routine, you will able to maintain healthy scalp and smooth strands.

Basic tips for healthy hair - washing, conditioning, special treatments, styling

Shampooing - Use gentle hair shampoo and quality hair conditioner suitable for your hair type. Make sure your hair products are free of sulfates, parabens and other aggressive chemicals. While shampooing, treat your scalp with care and gently massage it all over using your fingertips to remove grease, sweat and pollutions.

Conditioning - Always condition your wet strands, even when you haven’t used a shampoo. Otherwise the risk of dehydration and damage increases. Be careful with the conditioner though; apply it to the length of the strands, especially to the ends, and never to the scalp. If your hair is thin, use light hair conditioner or dilute it with water; the richer formulas will weight down your locks.

Washing - Do not wash your hair with hot water, it strips the moisture of the strands and irritates the scalp.
The good rinse is the key to the shiny mane. Rinse thoroughly to remove all the residues of hair products, using lukewarm water and always finish with cold water; it closes the cuticles of the hair’s shaft, which means more shine.
Wrap your head in a towel to absorb the excess moisture.
Try not to wash your hair every day, once every two or three days is better. Otherwise, you risk to overdry your locks and to make your sebaceous glands work more intensively, the result – dry hair and greasy scalp.

Drying - If it’s possible let your hair air dry. When you have to use the hairdryer, do not use the hottest airflow and finish with cold air. Hold the hairdryer above the head directing the airflow from the roots to the ends, like the professional hairdressers do. The airflow will seal the cuticles to the shaft, adding shine.

Treatments - Once or twice monthly pamper your tresses with a special treatment. For dry locks use nourishing hair treatments, based on oils; for oily locks choose lighter hair treatments, based on herbal extracts; for damaged hair – make it weekly and use more intensively working products. You have the option to choose either your favorite brand or a homemade treatment.

Addind shine - Healthy hair is shiny hair. For dry frizzy locks, work a few drops of jojoba oil starting from the ends. The jojoba oil moisturizes, softens and adds shine.
To give a quick shine to a dull mane, apply serum to the hair and smooth down the cuticles using a makeup brush.
Add one tablespoon of apple cider vinegar to the water for the final rinse. It will clarify your strands and will add nice shine.
One more tip for healthy shiny hair - use herbal infusions to define your natural hair shade and for shine, of course. The chamomile gives lighter hues to blond hair; rosemary adds darker hues to brown hair. For red hues, use red tea infusion.

Get rid of dandruff - The battle with the dandruff is not easy. To succeed, you need to combine different methods. Use both anti-dandruff hair products and homemade remedies. The infusion of fresh parsley leaves is a good homemade anti dandruff treatment. Sometimes the stress and the lack of essential nutrients causes dandruff. Improve your diet and learn some relaxation techniques.

Excess grease – Avoid too much fat food; do not scratch your scalp; use shampoo with mild detergents; do not apply hair conditioner to the roots; use water with added lemon juice for rinsing.

Trim the ends - At least every two months visit your hairdresser to eliminate split ends and to maintain a good haircut. Your hair will grow stronger and faster.
